Read This Before You Text Your Ex…

We get it, you're cruising through life, embracing the lead role in your own narrative and feeling effortlessly independent. Everything's fab, until

(cue the ominous music) — you participated in a dinner with the fam, who genuinely just wants to see you happy but, insists that another relationship is the answer to your ultimate happiness. It’s all out of love, of course but, the subtle reminder comes at a time when you’re still pulling the New Year’s confetti off of your Jimmy Choo’s and have finally accepted the idea of navigating life solo for a bit.

Suddenly, heart-shaped everything is lurking in every corner. Reality check much?

Uhh, this actually feels soo intentional. It seemed like it was going to be a smooth ride until Valentine’s Day decided to drop the plot twist and now you’re contemplating whether or not that

baddie life is really the best option for you.

Let’s be so real right now babes, we’ve all been there in those V-Day blues, enjoying the newly found freedom only to have society play the "single" soundtrack on repeat. Perhaps they get paid extra when they rain on our parade of independence. But, one fact remains — Society doesn't write your story.

It’s your show and there is only room for one character, the main character — You.

So, grab your fave drink (you know the one), cozy up because we are having a heart-to-heart about embracing your own narrative aka the singlehood. I love it over here!

The Art of Being Single

Ah, the exquisite art of being a single woman in 2024 — lets be honest, is not a status, it's a lifestyle. In a world that often glorifies coupledom, we're here to remind you that navigating life solo is nothing short of a masterpiece. Sure, society has its way of reminding us that we’re single, but let's not forget about the profound beauty that comes with a woman’s singlehood.

Being single is an opportunity to curate the life that authentically reflects your desires. No longer confined to negotiating shared spaces or compromising on decor choices (cries in Anthropology), this is your chance to give into your creative passions until sunrise, simply because you feel like it or to redecorate your life at 3 a.m. if inspiration strikes or — although we wouldn’t recommend losing too much rest because well, beauty-sleep (duh) — however, it’s worth noting that being single is an opportunity to strengthen the relationship that you have with yourself by embodying the freedom you have to patiently curate every aspect of your life according to your own unique ideals.

“Yes, Romance For One Please”

Honestly, do you really need someone else to sweep you off your feet? Okay, okay maybe that could be a yes due to the massive dopamine hits we receive but, have you ever experienced the same dopamine hits from simply being with yourself? If your answer is a solid no, or even a maybe, then it's time to channel your inner hopeless romantic and create your own love story (with yourself) — yes, we’re talking self-love. We’re talking scheduled time with yourself to express truly how much you mean to YOU.

So, lets brighten up your holiday with a few things that will keep you motivated and elevate your creative passions! We’ve all heard of them but, it’s common how many girlies I meet that don’t know where to start when it comes to creating a vision board that works. Once in awhile, when I need more motivation, I set my intentions on creating a date night with myself exclusively for a vision board. I warm up a hot tea, open the Pinterest app then I patiently take a look inward to assess what I want next. Putting my goals on paper helps me to not only be intentional in creating my goals but also keeps me accountable for taking action towards them. If you’re an avid Nood reader, then you know I can’t live without a regular perfect aura cleansing ritual to cleanse any negative energy I could be holding onto while reciting in my head everything I want to accomplish within the next 3 to 4 months.

Main Character Energy

Lights, camera, confidence – instead of exiting left stage, we’re embracing the spotlight without one apology in sight. When we stop self-pity and replace it with self-awareness, we create the foundation for a life experience that we designed. Once you begin making the calls on the direction you want to go in life — life starts happening for you instead of to you. So while some of us might find these concepts to be easier said than done, you could be wondering how to transition from pity puddle to roaring ocean waves. No worries, I have a hack for that — it’s called playing the yes game despite hesitations. Have I established an official name for my hack? No. Have I tried this hack myself and forced this concept on every friend who has ever undergone the valentine blues? Most definitely.

It’s the ‘make it work medicine’ aka ‘the power of yes’. A well studied phenomenon that quite literally describes how the willingness to say ‘yes’ to new opportunities that you would normally say no to, elevates your life to new heights — due to the growth factor involved in saying ‘yes’. For example —

By saying yes to unfamiliar opportunities, studies show that a person will advance in their career, friendships, social status and more thanks to the concept that ‘one thing always leads to another, which puts the power of saying ‘yes’ as the responsible party for GROWTH.

Life’s Adventure

I mean, we are just girl mather’s over here but being single equals having the freedom to explore uncharted territories while only having to pay for one airline ticket and exploring where you want, when you want. It’s giving no compromises on experiencing things through your own eyes, instead of someone else’s. Sure, you we could just sit inside binge watching our fave housewives franchise or we can say yes to ourselves and celebrate whatever comes our way. Remember, saying yes to new opportunities will always bring in new experiences. So, you never know what you might discover out there when you set your intentions on your own growth.

Valuing Alone Time (Because, Duh)

Nope. Being “alone” doesn't equate to loneliness; it's an opportunity to reconnect with the most important person in your life – yourself. This Valentine's Day, we’re highlighting the gift of solitude and celebrating self-love, self-patience and self-exploration.

So, let's flip the script and consider it a holiday to be out with the old, in with the new and cleanse our energy from past relationships and experiences that simply reached an expiration date. Lets celebrate the liberation in singlehood and the love you’ve found for yourself. Surround yourself with love, embrace authenticity, and the path less traveled, because now is your time to cozy up with yourself — So cheers to being the main charactercan’t wait for season two, of you!
