Copper Peptides + Silica: a Botox Alternative?

Nood

It’s Giving 5 years younger

and We love that

Over the past few years, we’ve seen peptides – specifically copper peptides – take the skincare industry by storm. It’s rare to find natural skin ingredients that are just as effective at preventing fine lines and wrinkles, restoring firmness, and keeping collagen stores in check as professional skin treatments. But these little blue baddies (yes, copper peptides have a natural blue hue) know how to do all that and more.

Copper peptides are a tri-peptide complex composed of amino acids. Unlike other peptides on the market, copper peptides are anti-inflammatory. In fact, they’re so soothing that they’re commonly used after skin treatments like chemical peels to relieve irritation and speed up wound healing. They’re also great at protecting the skin from free radical damage (shoutout to antioxidants) and cellular harm.

What really makes copper peptides special is their ability to rapidly produce collagen and elastin, two compounds responsible for keeping skin firm, smooth, and bouncy. According to experts, copper peptides can also remove damaged collagen, making space for new, healthy tissue to form in its place.

Pep - up

Copper peptides have come into my life recently as a Botox alternative I can use on a daily basis to restore collagen loss and keep my skin looking as youthful as ever. They don’t paralyze facial muscles like typical injections, but they do give my skin a super plump, lifted, glass skin texture and look that also smoothes out wrinkles, making them appear ten times less obvious. And I still get to move my face which is a win-win.

Specifically, I’ve been loving the Biossance Squalane + Copper Peptide Rapid Plumping Serum because it immediately douses my skin with hydration (courtesy of their vegan peptide blend and rapid plumping trio of hyaluronic acid, polyglutamic acid, and sugarcane squalane). Like other Biossance products, it’s also brimming with beneficial botanicals, including eggplant, aloe vera, turmeric, and firming paracress extract.

I love this serum so much that it’s nearly made doing my skincare regime addicting! I see instant results every time I use this serum—my fine lines disappear, my skin feels bouncier, and the hydration is crazy. I alternate between using it as my morning or evening treatment, though you could use it twice a day.

The Ordinary Copper Peptides Serum is another fav that also supports slow skin aging and antioxidant defense. The formula is lightweight, hydrating, and works for all skin types – whether you’re oily or dry. Plus, it’s more affordable than the Biossance serum and still packs noticeable results on first use.

Should you use copper peptides?

We’re not saying end your relationship with your injector, but these potent peptides can definitely help you manage between injections or replace Botox altogether if that's your goal. (Did we mention copper peptides are also pregnancy safe?) If you want to target any of the following skin concerns, consider adding copper peptides to your regimen.

Silica + Copper Peptides

While botox injections aim to temporarily reduce the appearance of wrinkles by relaxing muscles, the unique combination of copper peptides and silica offer another potent approach towards dramatically younger skin. Silica is known for its supporting role in hair, skin + nail stimulation but, the real win is its role in strengthening connective tissues. So, our team had an idea — what if we combine copper peptides + Silica. . . The results? Within just one day of combining this magic duo my skin went from that girl to That GIRL with bouncier, happier, wetter (aka hydrated), healthier skin. Silica alone is intended to be ingested and absorbed but,

it can also be used on top of the skin too. So of course we included it topically and orally. When combined, this duo promotes collagen synthesis at the cellular level and skin regeneration — meaning, it’s literally flipping old skin for new skin from the inside - out by secreting precursor molecules called procollegans (mature collagen molecules) throughout the entire body.

Unlike Botox, silica effectively diminishes existing wrinkles while preventing new ones, by connecting broken down tissues for long term results. Overall, the skin on my face looks dramatically better but, I’ve also noticed healthier results throughout my entire body. Combining copper peptides + silica is a game changer for topical skin care especially for anyone that wants a non-invasive, naturally effective alternative to botox. This duo is the dream team of my current skincare regime!

Skin Secret Tip: Organic Cloves

We openly have a love affair with cloves. It’s one of those “iykyk” health and beauty secrets that has long been a part of Ayurveda and Traditional Chinese Medicine. Like copper peptides, cloves are believed to be a natural replacement for Botox thanks to their anti-aging properties. More specifically, cloves contain eugenol, an antioxidant compound that repairs cellular damage and boosts blood circulation, both of which support bouncy, youthful skin and prevent collagen breakdown.

Pair cloves with copper peptides for an anti-aging treatment Mother Nature would be proud of (wink, wink.)
